CATHERINE WATTERS

Catherine is the owner of Tide Baton Twirling, and is also one of the coaches of the Las Vegas MOB Twirling group. Both groups consist of dedicated twirling athletes that compete at NBTA (National Baton Twirling Association) local, state, regional, national and world championship competitions.  Her teams are filled with children of various skill levels and ages, ranging from 3-22!  Catherine's students compete as individuals, pairs, and as a dance-twirl team!

Catherine is also the twirler advisor for the San Diego State University Marching Aztecs!  The twirlers perform at all home football games, bowl games, basketball and volleyball games, as well as, being guest performers at various events throughout the region. In 2016, they were the All-West Regional College Dance-Twirl team champions! ABOUT CATHERINE

Catherine pursued her undergraduate work at The University of Washington and graduated in 2013, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Ethnic Studies and minors in Diversity and Dance. Catherine was a student-athlete for the Huskies from 2008-2013 that included being the face of the university and athletics. She earned a 5-year athletic scholarship and traveled the world competing and performing her twirling and dance skills.

 

A two-time USA World Team member, Catherine won a gold medal at the 2006 World Championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands in Junior Women's Pairs, and in 2012, she was a silver medalist in Neuchatel, Switzerland in Senior Women's X-Strutting. As a collegian, Catherine was honored to perform with the Huskies in China, France, Italy, Switzerland and most recently, on a cruise ship in the Caribbean and Cozumel! Catherine was also awarded the 2011 College Miss Majorette of America, the highest honor a collegiate twirling athlete can achieve, and she was proud to bring that award home to The University of Washington and the Husky Marching Band!

 

 SEA-HAWKS!!!  Catherine had the privilege of performing the halftime shows for the Seattle Seahawks in 2014 and 2015, during their play-off runs for the Super Bowl! She also performed for many years on the red carpet at the Hollywood Christmas Parade and has appeared on several national television commercials in live and fully edited productions.

At the age of sixteen, Catherine was one of eight baton twirlers from across the nation invited to perform with Lions Club International at The Festival de la Primavera in Trujillo and Lima, Peru. There, she served as an American Ambassador, performing her twirling skills to help raise money for the orphanages and hospitals in the area.  It was here that she first developed a love of serving and volunteering to give back to her community and to those in need.
